Phillip D. Corley, Jr. Named as Fellow of the Alabama Law Foundation

Corley is a leader in the firm’s Municipal Law practice group, serving as the City Attorney for the City of Hoover, the sixth largest municipality in the state.

Wallace Jordan Successfully Defends Client Against Negligence Claims

Wallace Jordan litigation attorneys Clark Hammond, Ben Robinson, and Alex Underwood have successfully defended a private school from claims of negligence. After a three-day trial, the Jefferson County jury returned a defense verdict, finding the defendants had acted appropriately under difficult circumstances to protect the safety of students.

Roderick J. Evans Honored by Birmingham Business Journal’s 2024 Best of the Bar Awards

Wallace Jordan Member Roderick Evans was honored by the Birmingham Business Journal as one of the attorneys in its 2024 Best of the Bar awards, which acknowledges the work of accomplished area lawyers across a wide range of select practice areas. Bert Jordan Briefs Mid-Alabama Republican Club on Congressional Redistricting

Bert Jordan recently briefed the Mid-Alabama Republican Club on the State of Alabama’s pending defense of its congressional redistricting plan that was passed by the Alabama Legislature in July’s second 2023 special session. Plaintiffs have challenged that plan as violating Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

City of Bessemer Appoints Roderick Evans as Municipal Judge

Roderick J. Evans, a member in our Municipal Law practice group, has been appointed as a municipal judge for the City of Bessemer. An experienced civil litigator, Roderick’s practice also includes business law, construction law, employment law, commercial real estate transactions, and estate planning. He has previously served as an assistant city attorney for the City of Bessemer  and an assistant board attorney for the Industrial Development Board of the City of Bessemer.

Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff & Brandt has added a new associate attorney, Amelia Haston, to our team. She is recent graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law, and will be practicing municipal law, civil litigation, trusts & estates, and real estate law.

Wallace Jordan Adds a New Litigator: Alex Underwood

Alex Underwood has joined Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff & Brandt this spring and will be an Associate in our Litigation team. She practices in various areas of civil litigation, including construction, insurance defense, and employment litigation. Her previous experience includes representing clients in the defense of medical malpractice and workers’ compensation claims.

Clark Hammond Elected to Board of USA Swimming as At-Large Director

We are pleased to congratulate our attorney Clark Hammond for being elected as 1 of only 3 newly elected members of the USA Swimming Board of Directors, in the capacity of At-Large Director.


Clark has previous experience serving on the USA Swimming board, is a certified National Championship Referee, served as a FINA referee for 8 years, is a past chair for the National Officials Committee and currently serves as the Safe Sport Chair and as a member of the Board of Directors for Southeastern Swimming.


USA Swimming is the national governing body for the sport of swimming in the United States. The organization’s eligible voting members of the House of Delegates (HOD) elected two At-Large Directors at the first-ever Annual Business Meeting, while eligible voting athletes elected one athlete representative.


The 3 newly elected voting members of the 15-member USA Swimming Board of Directors are:


Maya Andrews – Athlete Representative – 4-year term (second consecutive term)

Clark Hammond – At-Large Director – 4-year term

Ira Klein – At-Large Director – 4-year term
