Atley Kitchings serves as a distinguished senior member of Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff & Brandt. He joined the firm in 2007. Prior to that time, Atley was in private practice with the firm Steiner, Crum & Byars and then with the firm Lange, Simpson, Robinson & Somerville. Before entering private practice, he served as an assistant U.S. district attorney and as the acting U.S. district attorney for the Northern District of Alabama. From 1957 to 1982, he was with the legal department for the Southern Bell Telephone Company and subsequently South Central Bell Telephone Company.
Atley is a graduate of Mississippi College and the University of Virginia School of Law. He was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1950 and to the Mississippi State Bar in 1961.
Atley has been active in the Alabama State Bar, American Bar Association, the Birmingham Bar Association, and the Montgomery County Bar Association. He has served as chairman of both the College of Liberal Arts Advisory Council for Auburn University and the Mountain Brook Baptist Church Board of Deacons. He has also taught at the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
